The tendency of human beings to copy one another is shown in the popularity of fashion in clothes and consumer goods. To what extent do you agree and disagree?

As social creatures, it is natural for humans to learn from and imitate one another. Some say this tendency to copy is seen in how people dress up and purchase goods; I generally agree.
The first reason for supporting this claim is my observation of how people quickly follow trends. Fashion-wise, young people often change their wardrobes when some celebrity or popular person at school wears something new. The fad could be in the color of the outfit, a change in style, or an additional accessory. This fashion change is not a gradual one, but something that happens within a few weeks, showing the desire for people to copy one another just to fit in. And for goods and other services, this phenomenon is seen when new releases, like the latest phone or a new kind of electric fan, are suddenly gobbled up by the public. People buy them because others desire and purchase them as well.
The other reason for my agreement is that people follow these trends even if they already have enough. Even though people have a closet full of clothing, they still purchase the latest clothing fads because others are wearing them. The same is true for other goods like electronics. Though their gadgets may still work, marketing creates an illusion that old devices are inferior, compelling consumers to follow the trend.
Nevertheless, there are always exceptions to the rule. Some people prefer to stand out by not following the trend. Others are constrained by budget or the desire for comfort, so they do not automatically patronize something to imitate their peers. Yet, these people belong to the minority, as most people readily copy what others are doing.
In summary, people's inclination to imitate is evident in the prevalence of consumer products and fashion trends. Like it or not, it will continue.
