Today, TV channels provide men's sports shows more than women's sports shows. Why? Should TV channels give equal time for women's sports and men's sports?

Many have observed that sports programs on TV mainly feature men’s sports, not women’s. This has raised a few eyebrows, given there is a push nowadays for equality in all fields. This essay will delve deeper into the reasons for this phenomenon and share my view on whether to give equal time or not.
The primary reason there are more men’s sports shows than women’s is that men love sports more. As observed, even at a young age, boys are drawn to the rough-and-tumble world of sports more than their female counterparts. Because of this, there is a larger male fanbase, which is why TV stations feature men's sports more, even if there are also women’s sports tournaments taking place as well.
The next reason is money. Corporate sponsors want to invest in programs that will drive their sales up. Since men are more passionate about sports, companies are willing to sponsor popular male sports leagues, like the NBA and English Premier League, rather than pour their money into female sports leagues. Because of this backing, TV stations broadcast these shows more, knowing they will earn much revenue from commercials and monthly subscriptions.
Nevertheless, others have taken note of this imbalance and are pushing for reforms to give equal screen time to both male and female sports. However, I disagree with their plan. Professional sports is a business. If there is a substantial demand for women’s sports, broadcasting networks should support them. But if the demand is not there, TV networks and corporate sponsors will lose money. This may even stunt the growth of women’s sports since these companies might have second thoughts about trying again in the future. Therefore, instead of critics blindly and broadly clamoring for reforms, the focus should be on growing the fanbase of women’s sports; corporate sponsorships and interest from the public will naturally follow.
