The government has the duty to ensure that its citizens have a healthy diet, while others believe this is individuals' responsibility. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
这应该是个人的责任
Some people think that it is the government’s duty to ensure that people maintain healthy eating habits. Other people are of the opinion that dietary choices are the responsibility of individuals and I strongly agree that this is the case.
The idea that government intervention is essential stems from the fact that some individuals are reluctant to assume responsibility for their own well-being. Those who rarely consume a balanced diet are more prone to health issues, which may eventually lead to the government providing medical treatments that could have been prevented.
Although the overall health of citizens is a significant concern for the government, individuals must ultimately be accountable for their own decisions and actions. It is unreasonable to expect the government to supervise each person's dietary choices at a low cost. Given the varying health statuses of individuals, employing nutrition experts to monitor the quality of meals for each citizen would strain a country's medical and financial resources.
Moreover, even if specific food products are banned by legislation, the enforcement of preventing their sale on the black market would necessitate additional financial resources from the government.
In my opinion, dietary choices should remain a matter for individuals and it is unnecessary for the government to play a larger role in dictating what its citizens can and cannot eat. Even though I believe that it is the responsibility of our governments to make sure that our food is as safe as possible, it should then be our individual responsibility to ensure that we stick to a sensible diet.
