In the modern age, some people think it is unnecessary to teach children the skill of handwriting. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people believe that it is not necessary to teach children how to handwrite because we now have access to so many other word processing technologies. While I agree that it is important for children to learn to use these technologies, I don’t believe that we should stop teaching them handwriting altogether.
Many schools and workplaces allow (and sometimes even require) people to use technology such as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. These all have word processing applications which these people may use while completing their work. However, I don’t think it is always the case that these are the best options for writing. There are certain circumstances, such as in areas with security breaches, where the use of technology isn’t practical. During these times, the utilization of computers and other technological devices may be unfeasible.
In addition to this, they need power to run. If there is a blackout or something else that restricts energy usage, people may not be able to rely on the technology. Again, if people cannot return to handwriting at these times, their work will be negatively impacted.
Moreover, research has shown that writing by hand and typing using technology use different parts of our brains. As such, it seems like it would be a good idea for children to learn how to do both as this will allow more parts of their brains to be stimulated. They may also find that writing by hand and typing allow them to think in different ways, so changing styles once in a while may be a good strategy for problem-solving and learning to think outside of the box.
It is fair to conclude that the skill of writing by pen or pencil would still be needed since technology might not always be reliable and secure. I believe that schools should definitely continue to teach students handwriting skills so that their brains can be exercised and the tradition of handwriting can be kept as well.
