Today there is a great increase in anti-social behavior and lack of respect to others. What are the causes of this? What measures can be taken to reduce this problem?
需政府媒体教育合力
Today, there has been a significant surge in the occurrence of anti-social behavior, such as stealing and damaging public facilities. Irresponsibility and disrespect to others can also be commonly seen in many countries. The reasons are both complicated and varied.
One possible reason for people holding hostile attitudes toward their communities is that they may be dissatisfied with how local governments address social problems, so they express their dissatisfaction in an irrational way. For example, some governments do not punish businesses that cause pollution to farmland if these companies pay a large sum of tax every year. As a result, some environmentalists have to frequently break into local factories in order to destroy production equipment and stop further pollution.
Another reason is that educational resources are becoming inadequate in areas where the population is increasing rapidly. Consequently, the poorly educated groups are more likely to disrespect people in their community as they have never received training on manners.
To reduce the concerns on anti-social behavior, the government should listen to the voice of common people and thoroughly consider different opinions on tricky issues, taking the benefit of all parties into consideration before making any decision. Public media should broadcast noncommercial advertisements to convey the importance of respecting others.
Also, governmental funds need to be allocated adequately to places where there is a shortage of teachers.
In sum, those who act against the law or treat others disrespectfully often do so because they feel frustrated with the government or lack education. Therefore, the government, the media and educational institutions need to join hands to work out solutions.
