Children who are brought up in families that do not have large amounts of money are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than children brought up by wealthy parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
富裕家庭成长未必有利
Although nearly everyone wants to prosper, the common observation is that children from rich households do not fare as well as adults compared to those raised in not-so-wealthy families. Though there are always exceptions, I generally believe this is true.
Affluent parents may have the means to provide their children’s material and educational needs, but what is often lacking is time to guide their children. Because they are so busy running their many businesses or attending social events, the children are often left to nannies and tutors who cannot guide the children the way a parent would and should. Children from middle and lower-income households, however, are regularly taught life lessons by their parents in preparation for the future since they do not have a big bank account to fall back on. This is why they are more careful with their money and can defer self-gratification for a higher purpose.
Another problem is that wealthy children have difficulty doing things themselves because they have others to do their bidding. Instead of figuring things out and doing things on their own, they can easily ask or pay someone to do it. This becomes a concern when they are older as they are used to issuing commands, not receiving them. This is a far cry from children from middle and lower-income households that rely on themselves or family members that they must cooperate with, not boss around. This makes them more capable of handling responsibilities as an adult than those who were pampered growing up.
To sum up, though not all children from well-to-do families are raised in such a way, a vast majority are, which is why they generally struggle as adults than their counterparts from less wealthy households. But since almost everyone desires to have more than enough money for themselves, this problem is something to keep in mind so that the next generation of wealthy children can grow up well.
