Employers should give their staff at least a 4-week holiday a year to make employees better at their jobs. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Employee burnout is a reason why employers often seek ways to gift their people with more time off. Some even suggest that four weeks of paid vacation be given, claiming that workers will become better if they are well-rested. Although it will be nice to receive such a benefit, I do not think that all employers should be required to do this.
Some workers are blessed to work for an organization that gives them such a vacation leave. However, while this is nice to have, not all companies can comply. Smaller businesses cannot afford to have key employees gone for long because there is no one else to replace them. It is therefore only large organizations, with either more personnel or automated systems, that can offer such leaves.
Furthermore, too much time away from work can hamper employee production. Similar to students who have the back-to-school blues because of a lengthy vacation, the same occurs to employees who have too much time off. Instead of returning refreshed and ready to work, employees are either sluggish or distracted as their minds are still elsewhere.
Lastly, other more fruitful things can be done to improve employee performance than giving more paid-leaves. Offering out-of-office training seminars is one way for employees to have a break while learning work skills. Many workers return recharged and ready to apply what they learned. Employers can also invest in recreation areas on the company premises for employees to de-stress, mitigating the need for an extended vacation.
In summary, the idea of a 4-week vacation may be helpful to some companies, but not to others. Instead of increasing vacation leaves, employers should consider other means for their people to deal with stress while keeping them focused on their work.
