Some people think that younger people are not suitable for important positions in government. Others think that it will be a good idea for younger people to take on these positions. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
支持年轻人任职政府
Because of the ongoing incompetence in many governments worldwide, some believe that government officials should be seasoned leaders, not the young and inexperienced. However, others think it is the fault of the entrenched veteran politicians, which is why they want younger people to have a shot.
For those against young officials, the usual argument is they have insufficient knowledge and experience. Should they be allowed to handle such positions, they may make too many errors, which will negatively affect the whole society. The other view against young people is that they should pay their dues first before climbing up the ranks. Many older adults believe it is unfair for the youth to be quickly promoted to seats of power. So they are vehemently against young people in such positions.
In contrast, many blame the veteran politicians for the mess their city or country is in. This is why they want idealistic young people to have a chance. The other thought is that many young people today have fresh and innovative ideas, and these new ways of doing things can somehow counteract the usual problems society faces.
In my view, there is nothing wrong with young people taking on government positions, provided they have the right qualifications and the heart for service. I agree that many young people have new ideas plus the zeal to work for the people, not themselves. But I also think they should start from lower government positions to get the experience needed to handle something more complex. However, if they are qualified and capable, I see nothing wrong with someone in their late 20s running the city or someone in their mid 30s running the country. What matters most is that the person can do the job well, regardless of their age.
