But the biggest challenge is to ask people to reject the convenience given by sciences and technologies that make their lives easier. As a fast-growing society, we have always moved forward, not backward. Even if someone would try a simplified lifestyle, no one can guarantee that this action could actually decrease or eliminate some of the environmental problems caused by technology in a short period of time.
Considering the poor practicality of adopting a simpler life, science and technology are the key to saving our environment. For example, the popularity of electronic products such as computers has led to a situation where people lack eco-friendly measures regarding how to dispose of their old electronic items. As a result, garbage cans are filling up with these outdated electronics. The good news is that we have already used technology to reduce the sizes of these items. And I believe technology will further reduce electronic waste, for instance, exploring ways to create biodegradable electronic devices.
Although smart solutions are not easily or quickly developed, human beings will be better served in trusting the development of science and technology which eventually can overcome most environmental problems.
