It is not necessary for people to travel to other places to learn about the culture. We can learn as much as from books, films and the Internet. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
部分同意,总的来说实地感受当地文化是无法被取代的
Although I agree with the idea that we can learn about the culture of other places from sources like books, movies and online information, there is no replacement for visiting a place in person.
There are various ways to develop a good understanding of other cultures these days. People can do so by reading a book, watching a movie, or viewing sites and articles on the internet. They can collect information without worrying about lack of time or money to visit those places personally. From the comfort of a chair, it seems that what they see from the sources is quite similar to what it is in reality.
However, I would say that the experience of physically visiting a place or culture may still be the best way to learn about that culture. During an in-person visit to a place, one will have experiences that are simply not possible from reading an article. The social interaction which is part of an actual visit can be extremely valuable and can enhance the learning experience. As an example, a person can learn a foreign language on the computer and think he is proficient at that language, until he visits a country where that language is actually spoken. Only then will that person learn how that language is really used or spoken.
To conclude, books, movies, and resources from the internet can provide an excellent means to learn about many cultures, but it cannot be replaced by the experience of actually visiting that country or culture.
