Some people think that in this modern world people are getting dependent on each other, while others think the modern world makes people more independent of each other. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
人们对他人的依赖性在增加
The rapid growth of technology in the modern world has impacted how people interact with one another. Some argue that people are now less reliant on others, but I think that people are now more dependent on the people around them.
On the one hand, the younger generation relies more on their parents. This is because of the increasing cost of living alongside the enormous pressures of work. For example, married couples in China are continually choosing to live with their parents. It means they can avoid the cost of childcare, and focus solely on their work. I think that the cost savings and convenience create a cycle of personal dependency for most modern families.
On the other hand, the rise in technology has given people the tools to be more independent. People are no longer required to interact with others around them for information, because they can find anything they need online. For example, working remotely has allowed people to work without having to depend on a physical office. However, I believe the modern working environment is complicated; being location independent does not mean that people are entirely independent of others.
Furthermore, social media has led people to often seek acceptance and gratification online from others. This constant rush to gain approval online means that people are more connected with other people than they were previously.
Overall, technology has provided some degree of independence to a proportion of world population. However, I believe that the rising cost of living and the constant search for validation online have changed people in the modern world to be more dependent on those around them.
