Some people prefer to have temporary jobs, which means they only work a few months in a year and use the rest of the time to do what they want. What is your opinion?
利弊皆有,需防范风险
In modern society, employment options are more flexible than ever before, and some people choose to shun permanent positions. In my opinion, this situation has a lot to offer, both to individuals and also society as a whole.
Temporary jobs provide people with an opportunity to be more productive when they get back to work. For example, if a person only works for several months a year, he or she has more chances to pursue a higher education degree or gain new skills by traveling to other places. Taking time off gives people the freedom to reflect and reshape their lives and careers, which is certainly better than holding on to a dissatisfying job for a long time.
In addition, temporary jobs could offer more employment opportunities for other members of society, which would lower unemployment. These days, many large corporations keep running for the whole year and may need their employees to be on duty for 365 days. If people can only work for a few months, these companies have to fill these positions to ensure their companies can operate smoothly.
On the other hand, this development may have a detrimental effect on economic growth. If people only work for half a year, they may not be able to fulfill the goals set by their employers.
Moreover, after quitting a job, people do not have any income so they are not required to pay taxes. As governments rely on income tax as a key source of revenue, this may result in a lack of funds to support industries or small businesses.
In conclusion, temporary jobs can increase people’s productivity and generate more job opportunities, but if a large percentage of population remains unemployed for months every year, this could lead to economic problems.
