More and more people no longer read newspaper or watch TV programs to get news. They get news about the world through the internet. Is this a positive or negative development?
通过网络获取新闻总体来说是好的发展
There used to be a time when people learned about current events by watching news programs on TV or reading the daily papers. Nowadays, however, people are opting to be updated on their surroundings through applications on the internet. In my view, this is generally good for society.
First off, news through the internet is more up-to-date than TV and newspapers. The primary reason people obtain news is to understand what is happening around the world to make better decisions in life. Such information can help with their business or even warn them about possible emergencies. Thus, updated news from the internet is much better than the delayed news found on TV and in the newspaper.
Next, news on the internet covers a broader range of topics. TV stations and newspapers often feature news relevant to the local population and some selected international news. However, on the internet, people can access news from any part of the globe, not just news in their region or country. Many internet news sites translate written news and provide subtitles for videos, allowing people from different countries to understand what they have to broadcast.
Lastly, news on the internet is more convenient. With internet access, people can quickly read or view the news wherever and whenever they want. And when finished, they can just stick their gadget in their bag or pocket. On the contrary, newspapers are bulky, while TV news programs are shown at specific times. So access to traditional news media requires much effort.
To conclude, news on the internet is more beneficial than news from traditional news outlets, which is why many people are making the switch. Since news is meant to update people whenever and wherever they need information, we should consider this a positive development.
