Art galleries and museums should display more traditional cultural works and fewer artworks from other countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some critics claim that museums and art galleries should primarily feature cultural artworks from their country, not art pieces from other lands. In my view, I wholly agree with this train of thought.
Firstly, these institutions might have more visitors, both local and international, if they featured cultural works from their country rather than paintings and sculptures from other places. When tourists visit an art gallery or museum, they expect to see cultural and historical pieces to give them a better understanding of the town or city they are in. It would be very disappointing and a waste of money if what they mainly saw were works coming from other countries instead.
Secondly, featuring traditional cultural works increases citizens’ love for their culture and country. By giving prominence to art from their ancestors, they may develop much pride, inspiring them to create their own cultural masterpieces or at least patronize their country’s art. However, if museums and art galleries mainly showcase artworks from other places, citizens might wrongly believe their culture is inferior to that of others, discouraging them from preserving their country’s traditions.
Lastly, it is more cost-effective for these institutions to display their country’s artworks since obtaining art from other countries often comes with a cost. Even if art galleries and museums do not purchase them, there is still a fee for exhibiting them on their premises and transportation costs to consider.
Besides, extra security may need to be hired to keep such artwork safe, especially if the paintings and sculptures are well-known and worth a fortune. To conclude, art galleries and museums should focus more on what their country has to offer. It would be better for all if they showcased traditional cultural artworks and not foreign works of art.
