In education and employment, some people work harder than others. Why do some people work harder? Is it always a good thing to work hard?

Society often expects people to give their best. However, this is often difficult to sustain, and most people may only do so in spurts. But it has been observed that some seem to work harder than the average person. This essay will discuss why some people are like that and whether it is always a positive thing.
A big motivation behind this is a drive to achieve something for themselves or their family. These students and workers understand it is necessary to sacrifice leisurely pursuits to do well, knowing that if they obtain their goal, they can provide more for themselves and their loved ones. Another reason is personal love for what they are doing. Some scholarly students, for example, simply love to learn. What others perceive to be going the extra mile is just these students wanting to know more.
Similarly, in the workplace, some employees just love what they do. They are continually improving their skillsets and searching for ways to better satisfy customers.
Although most people applaud such constant commitment, I do not think it is always good to work so hard. We should give our best, but such efforts should be balanced with rest and leisurely pursuits. A single-minded focus on one’s tasks may be effective for some time, but eventually, both the mind and body tire. When that happens, creativity stagnates and details are missed, leading to poor results. Everyone needs to recharge to continue functioning at an optimal level.
To sum up, it’s nice that some people love their job so much or are driven by a goal that makes them work harder. But because everyone is human, there are times that even they need to slow down and take a break so that their performance does not suffer.
