Some experts suppose that when a country is already rich, any additional increase in economic wealth does not make its citizens happier. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
总体来说不同意社会经济财富的额外增加不会使公民更幸福
In most countries, one of the main goals of the government is to ensure its citizens have all they need, which is why there is much focus on business and trade. However, some experts believe that when a country is already wealthy, any economic gain does not do much to make the people happier.
In my view, I generally disagree. In today’s society, there is no limit to people's desires. While ordinary people may think rich people have more than enough, the reality is that there is so much more that such people want to buy: yachts, mansions, and their own private jet. So any increase in earnings is sure to be welcomed by most of them, even if they have more than people in other countries.
Next, not everyone in wealthy countries is wealthy themself. Millionaires do not sweep streets or clean public toilets; ordinary citizens do these jobs. So a boost in the economy may translate to better compensation and benefits for ordinary people, which is why it is good for a country to keep earning more. However, there are still those rich philanthropists in these wealthy countries who give away more than they receive. For them, a jump in economic levels will not increase their happiness. But they are the few exceptions to the rule as most people, sadly, do not have such a heart. So it is wrong to speculate that people in wealthy nations will not be happy to have even more.
In summary, even if a country is prosperous, both wealthy and ordinary citizens will be glad to receive even more. Therefore, the government should continue doing its best to improve the economy so that everyone stays happy.
